I am a former US Army officer (New Mexico National Guard; former New Mexico state senator, 1980-1984; former Foreign Service Officer, Department of State, Washington, DC), with tours in Colombia, South America, and Toronto, Canada. While in Cali, Colombia, at the American Consulate as a vice-consul, I was able to obtain the release of a US citizen from a Colombian prison and probably saved his life. While I adhered to protocol, I also established quid pro quo or reciprocity-far more effective than protocol. It was reciprocity that allowed the release of the US citizen and what made me more effective in Colombia. I firmly believe in the preservation of all lives, including the innocent unborn. I strongly affirm that global peace is possible by the restructuring of the United Nations, ultimately preventing warfare rather than futile attempts to remedy those situations. All things are possible and can be attained with the appropriate application of discipline and ethical behavior.
