The present work is a qualitative research of descriptive and explanatory character that includes the analysis of dance teaching at IFBA, placing a sampling field by the selection of the oldest and youngest campus, Salvador and Feira de Santana, respectively. It discusses the existing epistemological approaches and distances between the areas of Dance and Physical Education in this context. The research aims at identifying and problematizing the existence of dance contents in high school integrated to the technician in this educational institution, observing the way it is treated and how it interferes in the formation of the students. The research data were produced from semi-structured interviews with two permanent teachers (one from the area of Dance and the other from the area of Physical Education). In this sense, the body that dances is seen as a being that thinks/senses and acts in the world; and dance is understood as the possibility of exercising citizenship by valuing reality and the everyday life of the student, seeking to develop autonomy, critical awareness and creative potential.
