The plot revolves around the Book of Creation ("Sefer Yetzirah" in the original Hebrew), a real historical manuscript from about two millennia ago. Often seen as part of the ancient Kabbalah, its solemn and terse pronouncements have baffled scholars and mystics alike. The authors of the present fantasy, Ran Lahav and Michael Winstrom, offer their own interpretation of the meaning of these pronouncements.

Ran Lahav promovierte in Philosophie und erhielt seinen Masterabschluss in Psychologie an der Universität von Michigan. Seit drei Jahrzehnten ist er auf internationaler Ebene in der Bewegung der philosophischen Praxis tätig und treibt die Entwicklung neuer Formen kontemplativer Philosophie voran. Er ist Gründer und Kopf der Gruppe Deep Philosophy, die philosophisch-kontemplative Aktivitäten für Menschen auf der ganzen Welt anbietet. Er lebt im ländlichen Vermont, USA und tritt gelegentlich weltweit bei philosophischen Veranstaltungen auf.
