This is the third installment in the Book of Toons trilogy. Gary uses traditional methods of drawing, starting with pencil and then ink for the basic outline. The cartoon is scanned into a computer, where it is colored and shaded and often backlit. For some of the panels, a mixed-media technique is used with cartoons and real photos for a unique look in backgrounds, and to emphasize certain objects. Since antiquity, artists have been experimenting with mixed media and Gary is creating his own personal twist on this art form. This is presented to the viewer before even opening the books, with the first book having a photo of earth on the cover and the second book having a photo of the moon. Also distant galaxies and nebulae courtesy of Hubble.

Autorenporträt
Gary Piercy has been cartooning since childhood. At the age of 16 he co-founded the Funky Melow T-shirt company and was the primary designer. After high school the Funky Melow Clothing Shack was opened. This little shop sold Guatemalan clothing and t-shirts and operated for 7 years before closing. In 1993 Gary published his first comic book Funky Melow Underground. Over the years Gary continued designing t-shirts and also made chalkboard menus for restaurants and pubs in Vancouver, B.C. In 2017 Gary started his current adventure of single panel cartoons with a limitless variety of themes. His fourth book of toons is now being created and should be published in 2026.
