Mory Carballo had always dreamed of coming to America. Growing up in Cuba, she was fascinated by the promise of a land where anything was possible. But it was when she was 27 years old that she finally had the opportunity to make that dream a reality. When Mory arrived in America, she didn't have much. She worked as a housekeeper and food prepper in a restaurant, trying to make ends meet and support herself. But she always remembered her dream job: working in a retail store where she could help people and make a difference in their lives. While working and studying, Mory earned a college degree at the State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota. It was challenging - she faced many challenges, from adapting to a new culture and language to dealing with the pressures of school and work. But despite the obstacles, she was determined to succeed.As Mory's life evolved, so did her dreams. She became a mother, a partner, a sister, and a daughter.
