BIO Author/ Illustrator of Borning In and Borning Out Marnie Muller, MLA Marnie Muller, MLA lives in the mountains of Southern Appalachia near Asheville, North Carolina and has taught Math, Science, and Creative Movement to all ages for many decades. She currently presents intergenerational, experiential workshops in Exploring the Universe Story; Hands-On Geometric Construction & The Golden Proportion; Creative Movement & Spiritual Awareness and other related topics. Marnie has been guest faculty at the National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Institutes for the Black Mountain College Museum + Art Center and has served as guest faculty at the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching. Additional bio info: For the exhibit at the Black Mountain College Museum & Art Center entitled Ideas + Inventions Buckminster Fuller and Black Mountain College/ Exploring the genius of R. Buckminster Fuller through Two- and Three-Dimensional Works, Marnie designed, constructed, and installed 3-D geometric forms including the elemental vector equilibrium; and she also conducts dynamic, experiential inter-generational workshops including Great Circles + Spaceship Earth with hands-on construction of 2-D and 3-D geometric forms. Marnie has extensively studied classical ancient geometry and harmonics with master geometer Keith Critchlow of Great Britain whom Buckminster Fuller called "one of the (20th) century's rare conceptual minds" and with other classical geometers. She teaches and tutors principles of two-dimensional and multi-dimensional geometry including the golden proportion, and uses large, life-size geometric forms for exploring the beauty and grace of moving in these powerful forms and remembering the angles of the great circles. Marnie is principal site designer and producer of the large outdoor permanent, museum-quality spiral walk installation entitled The Universe Story Journey at the Asheville School and is founding member of a group of educators from the US and Canada who developed experiential learning models for sharing the Universe Story narrative with all ages.
