One of the significant properties of umbellifers is the wide range of uses made different species, ranging from food and fodder to spices, poisons, and perfumery. Although, only the Carrot (Daucus carota) is a major vegetable crop and as well used as animal feed, with a world production of 2.3 million megatons. Ferulago species have been utilized since ancient times in folk medicine for their aphrodisiac, digestive, tonic, sedative, antiseptic, carminative and vermifuge properties as well as for the treatment of hemorrhoids, ulcers, snake bites, spleen diseases, and headaches. Chemical studies on Ferulago species can be classified into three groups: Isolation of coumarins, isolation of essential oils and other studies (Cytotoxicity and Anticancer, Antibacterial and Antifungal, Antiulcerogenic, Antioxidant, Antianjiogenic, -amylase and -glucosidase inhibitory, Anticholinesterase Activities, Hepatoprotective Effect, Effect on Erectile Dysfunction).
