After a failed attempt at opening a private detective agency, and recently divorcing his first love, he's been living in a flat behind his son's house, lonely, wallowing in despair and self-pity, at the bottom of his game. He grew up in Meriden, Connecticut, on the Interstate 91 corridor between Hartford and New Haven. When the MPD investigates the recent murder of a young woman found at the bottom of Black Mountain, similar to the serial killings of five years ago, they ask for Logan's assistance. It requires him to investigate the east side of town where he grew up, reawakening dark childhood memories when living with his dysfunctional family. Memories he's tried to forget since leaving home. While on retainer with the MPD, he's asked to work alongside his previous partner, Detective Krystal Strong, and together they try to solve the gruesome murder. Shaken awake from his five-year depression, Logan hopes that his involvement in the case will rekindle a life with a new purpose. But, investigating on the east side of town and in Hubbard Park, the disposal grounds of the previous serial killings, has a downside. It slowly reawakens repressed memories of horrible events from his past. Blurred lines between love and work relationships, myth, city lore, and reality get in the way.
