Kristy Angley Marett is a writer, poet, artist and musician. A longtime lover of classic literature, folktales and fables, Kristy enjoys bringing traditional stories to life. A native of the North Carolina mountains, she finds inspiration for her art and writing in nature and her subjects are often life, love, and the beauty of the natural world. Kristy has been interested in writing since she was a small child, writing original poems and stories from the age of 5. She comes from a highly creative family, where art, music, singing and story telling were common family pastimes. She studied creative writing in high school and college, and continued writing feature articles and essays. She attended University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky, in the 1990s, and has enjoyed a 25-year career as a paralegal. Following a love of music as well as writing, Kristy began performing as a vocalist at age 12 with her 11 year old friend who played guitar. The duo performed on live radio shows, conventions, school functions and talent contests. As an adult, she performed as lead singer with several successful musical acts and bands over the years, the most recent of which was a popular beach, shag and dance band, Ocean Breeze, that performed in the southeastern states at music festivals and weddings. Kristy now lives in South Carolina. When she is not writing or drawing, she delights in performing music with her husband and friends. Her work may be found at www.artsandexpressions.co.
