Purpose: To report the results of posterior spinal arthrodesis combined with Ponté osteotomies in Scheuermann's disease. Methods: Retrospective study of ten patients with Scheuermann's kyphosis treated surgically at the department of pediatric orthopedics at the Béchir Hamza children's hospital in Tunis. The average kyphosis before surgery was 70°.Results: Postoperatively, the mean kyphosis was 45°. Radiologically, the mean kyphosis in retrospect was 50°, with a mean loss of angular correction of 18%.Discussion: The treatment of Scheuermann's disease must be primarily orthopaedic. It is based on a healthy lifestyle, physical therapy and devices. Surgery is considered only for painful and unsightly kyphosis at the end of growth or after failure of orthopaedic treatment. Conclusions: Surgical treatment of Scheuermann's disease is difficult, fraught with morbidity and should only be considered in exceptional cases after failure of orthopaedic treatment.
