A unique book explaining the theory and practical implications of brief work with bereaved children
This book approaches working short term with bereaved children and families from a variety of perspectives and in a variety of settings. The first part of the book focuses on the historical and theoretical background and current context, and the second on the different methods of intervention. The third section considers the relevance of extended warranties for short term interventions, i.e., the value and importance of being able to revisit a service when needed.
Recent years have seen increasing interest in the needs of children facing bereavement, and a corresponding increase in services to support them. This book addresses and explains the theoretical concepts and practical implications behind the idea of brief work with bereaved children and families. Flexible and accessible short term services delivered at the right time underpin the strengths of bereaved children, supporting their recovery rather than pathologising the grief process.
