Alexander is Lemuel Hardison Redd Jr. Professor Emeritus of Western American History at Brigham Young University and the author of numerous articles and books on Mormon history and the American West, including Mormonism in Transition: A History of the Latter-day Saints, 1890-1930 and Things in Heaven and Earth: The Life and Times of Wilford Woodruff, a Mormon Prophet.
