Autorenporträt
Karen was born in 1981, an only child to parents who ran their own company assembling Printed Circuit Boards. On graduation from the University of Leicester in 2002, she left with a degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering and a fiancé. Immediately after leaving university, Karen landed a job at a small, family-run business in Northampton specialising in the design of digital recording systems. She started off as a Development Engineer but through the years took over the day-to-day running of a new start-up sister company, whilst still doing the odd bit of development. That is where she still spends her working days. She married the aforementioned fiancé in 2003, and in 2010 had a beautiful daughter named Esme, who put a whole new perspective on both life and sleep deprivation. When Esme was just under a year old, Karen stumbled across her local Roller Derby team. As someone who is scared of exercise in general, but used to ice-skate as a teen, roller skating seemed like a good way to get rid of that excess baby weight. The obsession took hold, and for over three years she trained with Northampton's Shoetown Slayers. 2014 brought a break from Roller Derby, allowing Karen more time to work on her writing, and her debut novelette "Trapping Honey" was released. The subsequent arrival of a second daughter, Aria, made it somewhat difficult to find time to write for a while after! "Thunder Kaz" returned to the sport of roller derby in 2016, as a member of Bedfordshire Roller Derby league, and currently plays with Northampton's Vendetta Vixens.
