Tatiana Vilbrun-Etienne teaches us about the importance of loving and finding ourselves in BrookLyn We Go HARD, a young adult coming-of-age novel set in her beloved hometown of Brooklyn. Best friends Brook and Lyn love each other almost as much as they love themselves. They also know they've got the looks-and a mutual crush on Brent. Soon, Brook and Brent start dating. Lyn gets Jealous. She is unable to sort out her feelings regarding both her friend's good fortune and her parents' conflicted relationship. Despite this, she can't give up the pursuit, no matter what kind of wedge it drives between her and Brook. Meanwhile, Brook has her own struggles to deal with. And as outside influences begin to weigh on her, she'll have to make an important choice. Will she make the right one? Through chapters that alternate between the characters' perspectives in sharp-tongued bursts, BrookLyn We Go HARD teaches tough lessons about love and truth. Individually, their voices hold a mirror to our own spirits, while together they show a mosaic of struggle and despair that comes with maintaining relationships. But one lesson rings above all: Love Yourself Enough!
