Brotha' Do You Mind discusses Black people, African-Americans and how we are a prejudiced race of people. The very things we blame White Americans for we do ourselves. We habitually and constantly blame others for our plight of Black America. Yes, there has been racism since the time of slavery, but an atrocity as great is when we, as a race of Black people hate ourselves and destroy ourselves through the ignorance of color consciousness. Time and time again, we choose the light over the darkness. In addition, a main focus is how Black men "Brothas" get so angry when they see "us" Black women date outside of our race, especially if the "date" is a White man. And how dare they get so angry when they have been dating outside of their race for years; especially with White women. With all of the rap music, decline of the Martin Luther King Movement, and the breakdown of the Black family and its culture --- we can no longer blame anyone but ourselves for our plight. I, as a Black female, African-American Female in America will be myself; however "White" my peers may feel it is. I am who I am --- no more explanations.
