Theodore Goodridge Roberts (1877-1953) was a prolific Canadian author of historical fiction, poetry, and adventure stories. Born in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Roberts came from a highly literary family-his brother, Sir Charles G.D. Roberts, was one of Canada's foremost poets. Theodore's own literary career was marked by a fascination with the landscapes and history of his homeland, which he adeptly wove into his narratives. 'Brothers of Peril', one of his noteworthy works, brings to life the tumultuous era of the seventeenth century when adventurers and settlers faced the harsh realities of the New World. Roberts's narrative style often blurred the lines between historical fact and fiction, with vivid characterizations and a strong sense of place. His contributions to Canadian literature are reflected not just in the volume of his work, but in his ability to capture the spirit and challenges of pioneer life, which has made him a significant figure in the canon of Atlantic Canadian writers.
