Autorenporträt
Have you ever dreamed of sharing your personal story with others, while inspiring them? On December 2020, Layla Sanaa fulfilled this dream by publishing her first children's book, 'Brown Baby, Little Lady', born from a profound necessity to empower little black girls to expound on their purpose, just as she strives to do on this journey called "life". Layla Sanaa was born February 9th, 2014 in Gainesville, FL. Early on, she developed an admiration for singing, reading, performing, dance, and arts and crafts. Fortunately, her parents encouraged and nurtured those interests. At age 2, she competed in the Baby Miss Florida Pageant, placing in seven categories, two in which were 1st place for "Baby Miss Florida Most Photogenic" and "Baby Miss West Florida". Additionally, her unforgettable face made "Giggle" magazine's front cover, an Alachua County premier award-winning parenting magazine for the Dec/Jan 2015 V.6 Edition 6. Layla realized early on that even the sky is not the limit, and that her aspirations are to be praised. It is through daily affirmations that Layla continues to learn how internalizing the "I am's" [affirmations], can truly maximize her greatest potential. It will be her personal experiences coupled with her book that will afford her that opportunity to affirm and encourage other little brown girls to effectuate self-love, and fulfill their interest, no matter how impossible and fearful it may seem. Alternatively, her life examples teach us to not only follow our dreams but to realize that for every doubt, there is beautiful certainty reflecting in the mirror.
