Crabbe graduated from West Orange High School, Winter Garden, Florida, and attended the University of Florida where he played baseball and received a bachelor's degree in liberal arts. A third baseman and second baseman primarily, Crabbe played professionally in the farm systems of the Chicago Cubs, Atlanta Braves and Toronto Blue Jays from 1984 92, compiling a career batting average of .278 in 2,558 at bats.
