In this paper a series of concepts will be analysed for research and clarification purposes with regard to the relationship between burnout syndrome and what motivates health professionals involved in a neuro-rehabilitation centre. First of all, we will explain why we talk about burnout syndrome and its relationship with the work of health staff and then include an important term in contrast to burnout: engagment. The incorporation of the concept of employee engagement is important as a framework for the elaboration and design of HR practices and policies oriented towards the development of positive human, social and psychological capital.The ways of relating, the work environment, the quantity and quality of work performed, the possibility of growth offered and the set of economic factors that are generated around a healthy workspace are determining aspects for engagment and reduce the chances of the appearance of burnout syndrome.
