Burnishing, a plastic deformation process can be used to finish surfaces. Burnishing is a cold-working process in which plastic deformation occurs by applying a pressure through a very hard and smooth ball or roller on a metallic surface. Improvements in surface finish, surface hardness, wear resistance, fatigue resistance, yield and tensile strength and corrosion resistance can be achieved by the application of this process. Burnishing of surfaces is subject in the field of manufacturing technology. The roller burnishing and effects of different parameters like burnishing feed, burnishing speed and burnishing force on surface finish and hardness have been discussed in this book. The basics fundamentals of burnishing process, different types of burnishing and their application were explained with the light of present literature. In the present study the EN-31 material had taken for burnishing because this material have large number of applications in industry.
