The book reflects Busheyâ (TM)s origins as an agricultural village, and charts its expansion with the coming of the railway and the growth of industry in and around Bushey Hall Road. It provides extensive coverage of the townâ (TM)s streets, shops, churches and schools, and illustrates the lives of such local celebrities as the painters Sir Hubert von Herkomer, RA, and Lucy Kemp-Welch. This photographic compilation is published in association with Bushey Museum and fills a major gap in the coverage of the townâ (TM)s unique history. The photographs are derived mainly from the author, Bryen Woodâ (TM)s, own collection and that of the Museum; very few of the images have appeared in print before.
