The monograph analyzes the main directions of modern social thought in relation to the study of the process of intercultural business communication, examines the new historical situation in which society finds itself, having stepped into the XXI century - the era of network society, economic globalization and new technologies. The author presents the results of the review of analytical views of researchers on the nature of communication from the perspective of the classics of social thought of the XX century - J.Habermas, C.-O. Apel, N.Luman, M. Mc-Luhan, M. Castells; the approaches to comprehension of the communication phenomenon from the perspective of linguistics representatives (C. Morris, J. Austin, E. Cassirer, J. Serle, M. Heidegger, R. Yakobson) are revealed. Particular attention is paid to theories of language communication, communicative action, and mass-media theory; peculiarities of intercultural business communication in the context of globalization; principles of communicative and pragmatic construction of the business communication process, and an attempt at pragmalinguistic modeling of the negotiation process. The book is addressed to a wide range of readers interested in the problems of communication in the modern world.

Olga Safonova ha dedicado más de 30 años de su actividad docente al desarrollo de los aspectos teóricos de la enseñanza de idiomas desde el punto de vista de la lingüodidáctica y su aplicación práctica en la formación de especialistas en el ámbito económico a la comunicación profesional en el campo de los negocios. Es autora de monografías, libros de texto y artículos colectivos.
