This study has been conducted to achieve the following specific objectives: (i) To scrutinize the forecasting practices being followed currently in the foreign and Indian corporate. (ii) To compare the use of business forecasting techniques in consumer non-durable, consumer durable, pharmaceuticals and industrial goods sector in responding companies. (iii) To analyze business forecasting management practices in sample companies. (iv)To identify the factors affecting sales forecasting practices. (v) To advocate effective measures for improving forecasting practices in Indian corporate. The primary data have been collected from 300 organizations with the help of a structured questionnaire. The organizations 75 each have been selected from consumer non-durable, consumer durable, pharmaceuticals and industrial goods sector. The study is descriptive in nature. The sample companies have been selected using stratified random sampling technique. The collected data have been analysed using statistical techniques like frequency distribution; mean, standard deviation, chi square test, t-test, F-test, Factor analysis etc.
