Autorenporträt
The author was born in Düsseldorf, Germany, in 1958. Gabi qualified as a medical doctor in 1985 at Düsseldorf University. She went to London to work at the Hammersmith Hospital, where she met her future husband, Charles, who is also a paediatrician. After her marriage to Charles in 1987, Gabi moved to the UK and started to work in the Paediatric Liver Transplant Unit at Addenbrookes University Hospital in Cambridge. Gabi retired in 2018 after 30 years of service at Addenbrookes. Gabi and Charles have four adopted children: Philip, Aaron, Molly and Aleshia. The family lives in rural Suffolk with their dogs, Tess and Rio. The illustrator, Katharine, graduated from Falmouth Art College in 1998 and has since then worked as a freelance artist and participated in national exhibitions. She lives in Suffolk with her husband, their two daughters and a cocker spaniel.
