Author John Christy was born "John Victor Corne" by his birth mother September 30th 1955 in Indianapolis, IN and was later adopted by Floyd and Marjorie Christy. He has one brother, Scott, and two half-sisters; the younger Ingred (whom he married to her husband, Chris, in June 2012) and the older Annabella. While John and his sisters share the same birth mother, he has never met or known his birth father, but has met and remains in contact with his two sisters, and follows in both mother's footsteps as a teacher. He attended North Central High School in Indianapolis, graduated 1973 and went on to Ball State University, graduating in 1977 with a BS in Elementary Education. He also received a math endorsement 1982, a Masters in Education In 1985 and PE and Driver's Ed Certification in 2006. In the fall of 1977 he began a teaching career at Lake Caicott Elementary teaching self-contained 6th grade, and also began a coaching career at Pioneer Jr/Sr High School coaching High School football and wrestling, and elementary basketball and track. He went on to teach and coach for 38 years. After a divorce from a 10-year marriage in 1977, he married his wife Denise on June 13 1988. They have 3 children, (plus 3): Johnny, 27, and his girlfriend Kristen; Hannah, 23; and James, 21. He and his wife are also blessed to have a few former students to call their own children: Alex, Catrina and Phillip, and countless former students he stays in contact with via Facebook. John Christy volunteered at a Prison Ministry in Johnson County at St. Joe County men's jail. He became an Ordained Pastor in 2006, was a volunteer minister at the South Bend center for the homeless, did volunteer work with Church Lady and Friends soup kitchen and food pantry, had a Ministry on local TV in South Bend/Michiana area, "Broaden Your Horizon Ministry" and also served as a Supply Pastor from 2014-2015.
