Autorenporträt
John was born in Jersey City and lived with his parents, Rose and George Amabile, sister, Anita, and brother, George. He attended the Jersey City public schools and graduated in 1955. He also attended Seton Hall University, then transferred to Northwest Missouri State University for a degree in physical education and business education. Upon graduation, John was hired in Jersey City as a business teacher and football coach. This is the same school that he graduated from in 1955. After three years, he applied to the Jackson school district in Jackson, New Jersey, and was hired as a business teacher and, the following year, became department chairman and the following-assistant principal. John was principal of the Goetz School, the Johnson Elementary School, and the Holman Elementary School. He taught for three years at Monmouth University in the teacher education program. He attended the doctoral program at Widener University. He was president of the principals association of Ocean County. John was in the group called By the Grace of God and was one of the first music ministers to lead worship at the Church of Grace and Peace. He was Sunday school principal with his wife, Irene, for two years.
