The present book gives an overview on cactus pear cultivation, reports findings from literature regarding cactus pear genetics, describes the recent achievements in using biotechnological tools for cactus pear improvement and finally highlights the main cultivation purposes of this plant genus.

Dr. Mazri Mouaad Amine is a researcher in the National Institute of Agronomic Research of Morocco. He holds an engineer and PhD degrees in plant biotechnology. His main research activities are focused on the use of biotechnological approaches to improve plants with high economic value.
