Calotropis gigantea L. (Hindi: Arka & English: Giant milkweed) is a perennial herb used in traditional medicines & consists of several important activities in methanolic extracts from their parts including leaves, flowers, roots & latex. Numerous diseases such as anxiogenic activity, sedative, leprosy, ulceration, coughs, piles, asthma, etc., use this medicinal plant for the treatment. Green synthesis of Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles (ZnONPs) using plant sources is an eco-friendly approach. Biological methods are more efficient compared to the chemical & physical methods for preparation of ZnONPs against the different substrates using microorganisms & plant extract. This book deals with green synthesis, characterization & applications of ZnONPs from the leaf extract of C. gigantea & assessment of the molecular changes by underst&ing the cell cycle studies. Synthesis of ZnONPs is characterized by XRD, FT-IR & SEM. Biogenic ZnONPs act as anticancer, antimicrobial, antioxidant, antitumour, cytotoxic, apoptotic & enzymatic agents. ZnONPs plays an important role in many different industrial sectors such as medication, cosmetic & concrete materials, textile & automotive industries.
