Left alone with her four-year-old son while her husband is away in Florence supporting family, forty-year-old Frankie is looking for a challenge. During a chat with an old friend she realises that she has an urge to abandon routine and regulations in order to spur herself on. When the opportunity arises, Frankie joins a group en route to Santiago Compostela and discovers that alongside the physical journey, she might benefit from an inner probing into her previous life. The group consists of people from various faiths and ethnic backgrounds and each has a tale to tell. Frankie finds that her determination and past experiences enable her to summon up inner strength to encourage and support Richard's friend Joe when he and Nuala join the pilgrimage and go through their own struggles. Frankie comes to realise that the trip is changing her, and that the love and friendships forged on the camino might just last a lifetime. '...if we find but one to whom we can speak out of our heart freely, with whom we can walk in love and simplicity without dissimulation,we can have no ground of quarrel with the world or God.'¿Taken from RL Stevenson Travels with a Donkey in the Cevennesfirst Published 1879
