Brought up in Southend-on-Sea, and educated at Bristol and Oxford universities, Nick Fawcett, who now lives in Wellington, Somerset, has worked for the past twenty years as a freelance editor, proofreader and indexer, during which time he has also written numerous books published by Kevin Mayhew Ltd, his personal favourite being The Teacher (2016). Having always had a passion for language, ever since his mother set him jumbled-word puzzles when he was a boy, he has played word games - especially Scrabble and Words with Friends - for many years.
