Cancer is nowadays one of the most frequent causes of morbidity and mortality in the world. Moreover, the number of cancer deaths worldwide is expected to increase by 45% between 2007 and 2030 (from 7.9 to 11.5 million), more than half of them in developing countries. In Morocco, cancer is one of the major public health problems, as diagnosis is often late and treatment is difficult and costly. Recent data reported at the national level indicate an annual incidence of 35,000 cases of cancer. Several registers have already been established, including the register of the city of Rabat (RECRAB), the cancer register of the Grand Casablanca region and, very soon, the cancer register of Marrakech, and give an idea of the incidence of cancer in these different regions. On the other hand, in the region of Fez, there is currently no reliable regional database to assess the frequency and distribution of cancers diagnosed in this region and from which an anti-cancer control could be implemented.
