This book represents a project report that covers the capacity building of community based organizations through micro finance. Its goal was to improve the social and economic status of marginalized rural communities. The specific objectives of the project was to strengthen ten community based organizations (CBOs) to increase an average income status of their members. Before the project was designed a participatory community assessment was carried out to collect information in the area of community profile, health, economics and environment. Participatory methodology in data collection were employed. Data was systematically classified, coded and analyzed using SPSS. Findings shows that informal micro financial institutions are vital for raising households income since they proved to generate income in mobilizing money from poor people in short time with less restrictions, members can borrow and create the sense of ownership compared to formal financial institutions.
