Capillary electrophoresis (CE) has now become one of the most advanced separation techniques for pharmaceutical analysis. A major advance for CE is its recognition by various regulatory authorities. A general monograph on CE is now included in the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP, which has also been published in the European Pharmacopoeia (EP) and Japanese Pharmacopoeia (JP).The generally short duration of method development, the simple instrumentation and the use of small sample and electrolyte volumes are, of course, interesting from financial and environmental perspectives The main application areas of CZE in drugs analysis are in chiral separation, main component assay and impurity determination. This work demonstrates the potential of CE as a routine analytical separation technique for the analysis of non chiral, chiral and impurities in pharmaceuticals formulation of fluoroquinolones and primaquine.
