Carbon sequestration is considered as the viable approach to reduce the rising concentration of atmospheric carbon dioxide due to anthropogenic activities. Among various strategies biosequestration using trees receives considerable attention as it offers an ecofriendly strategy. In this direction a study has been carried out to assess the carbon sequestration efficiencies of trees pertaining to Swaraj round, Thrissur a major urban green space of Thrissur city. Trees were identified up to species level with the aid of experts and manuals. The carbon sequestration efficiencies were monitored separately using non destructive measures (Allometric equations) and compared.
