Another five, bloody, years have passed by in the global war against heart disease, and since book one was published. In this time millions more babies, teens and adults have died or are suffering. Why are we not winning this war? The world's population is increasing faster than we can produce cardiologists and not enough people care. We need reinforcements to arrive at the battle field. The only way we are ever going to defeat this pernicious enemy is to recruit the survivors, the walking wounded, and the Cardiac Athletes. We have waited too long and seen too little change but now our numbers are growing rapidly, daily, and new leaders, pioneers and superheroes have come to the fore with a clear and common mission in mind. We are witnessing a new era; the ... Advance of the Ambassadors. ¿¿"Cardiac Athletes" by Lars Andrews is a well-written and informative book that sheds light on the unique challenges and opportunities for individuals with heart conditions who wish to lead an active lifestyle. The book begins with a personal account of the author's own experience as a cardiac athlete, which adds an authentic and relatable element to the text. From there, Andrews covers a variety of topics, including the benefits of exercise for those with heart conditions, how to properly prepare for physical activity, and the potential risks and limitations that cardiac athletes should be aware of. Throughout the book, Andrews provides practical advice and tips for cardiac athletes, such as how to monitor heart rate during exercise and the importance of working with a medical professional to develop a safe and effective exercise plan. He also includes inspiring stories of other cardiac athletes who have overcome their limitations and achieved remarkable athletic feats. One of the most valuable aspects of "Cardiac Athletes" is the emphasis on the importance of a positive mindset and a supportive community. Andrews encourages readers to see their heart condition as a challenge to overcome rather than an insurmountable obstacle, and stresses the importance of connecting with other cardiac athletes for encouragement and advice. Overall, "Cardiac Athletes" is an excellent resource for anyone with a heart condition who wants to lead an active lifestyle. The book is well-written, informative, and inspiring, and offers practical advice and encouragement for cardiac athletes at every level of fitness. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to improve their physical health and wellbeing, regardless of their current heart condition."

Autorenporträt
As a teen Lars Andrews excelled at sports, representing Sussex in rugby and athletics and winning trophies in karate until a broken neck changed his life. After temporary paralysis and spinal fusion surgery, doctors told him his sporting days were over. So, Lars read extensively in exercise physiology, physical therapy and psychology in order to rehabilitate himself and gained qualifications in Phys Ed., sports science, sports medicine, CPR and an MSc degree in cardiology. Over thirty-five years he has worked as a sports coach, gym health and fitness instructor, lifeguard, hospital cardiac rehab instructor and Chief Cardiac Physiologist. He worked as a sonographer for Cardiac Risk in the Young, and for British Athletics, screening athletes from Team GB prior to the London Olympic Games 2012. In 1997 he created CARDIAC ATHLETES, the world's first support group for heart patient athletes, determined they would get a better deal than he did!
