Recurrent miscarriage is defined as 3 or more consecutive pregnancy losses before 20 weeks of gestation. It affects 5% of pregnancies, and, unfortunately, most of the cases are of unknown causes. Inherited thrombophilias have been postulated as an etiology, with a large and contradictory literature addressing their link to recurrent spontaneous miscarriage.
