Ankylosing spondylitis is a chronic inflammatory rheumatism belonging to the group of spondylarthropathies. It is a disease that affects young people, especially males. It is very disabling, evolves by flare-ups, and manifests itself by an inflammation of the spine and entheses, followed by excessive bone growth. The impairment of the quality of life of patients can even lead to a cessation of their professional activities and have high economic repercussions. Our study was made on a group of Tunisian patients affected by ankylosing spondylitis consulting at the rheumatology department of the military hospital of Tunis in collaboration with the biochemistry department. The CV risk varied from 10 to 43% in our population according to a small sample of 40 patients.the evaluation of the cardiovascular risk according to the SCORE revealed that 43% of the patients presented a moderate, high or very high risk of CV event over 10 years. AS is thus added to the other systemic diseases whose inflammatory process causes extra-articular manifestations in particular cardiovascular.
