The present research deals with the relationship between higher education and secondary education in the processes of choosing a university career. The results of a non-experimental design are presented. The general objective is to determine the relationship between higher education and secondary education in the processes of choosing a university career in order to establish the level of admission to universities. The sample used was of 30 students and one vice-rector, considering a qualitative approach for the collection of information, including documentary review. It was found that the young people have a useful vision without exaggeration about the uses and benefits of higher education; however, they give a low rating to the processes of career choice and to the management carried out by the Student Counseling Department of the educational institution. It should be noted that there is a high interest of students to study a professional career, so these entities should adapt to this need and adopt measures or joint processes that contribute to the fulfillment of their goal.
