The present study investigated career preferences of rural and urban adolescents from Pune district. This study is a descriptive survey and the sample for the study is 200 XI/XII standard students. The present study investigated career preferences of rural and urban adolescents from Pune district. This study is a descriptive survey and the sample for the study is 200 XI/XII standard students. It is subdivided into rural 50 girls and 50 boys and urban 50 boys and 50 girls. Researcher used standardized tools for the study. Those are as Career Preference Record (CPR) by Bhargava and Bhargava used to assess the career preferences of rural and urban adolescents (boys and girls) and Socioeconomic Status Scale (SES) by Upadhyaya and Saxsena to assess socioeconomic status of rural and urban adolescents to find its relationship with career preference. Researcher used percentage, tables, graph for data presentation and t-test, correlation statistical tools for data analysis and hypothesis testing. The major findings of the research are as follows: there is a significant difference in career preferences among rural and urban adolescents. There is a significant difference among rural and urban adolescents in career preferences in relation to their socioeconomic status. There is a significant relationship between career preferences and socioeconomic status.
