The analyzed articles indicated several experiences and feelings of the family caregiver, encompassing daily changes, fear, anguish, anxiety, uncertainty, overload, fear of death and depressive symptoms, which compromised the mental, physical and spiritual health of the caregiver, affecting the form of care to the ill family member. Also, elements of support were evidenced in the analyzed articles, such as religiosity, faith, belief in God.
