¿¿CASCADE The LI'MA Saga Book ii: In Book II - CASCADE What if the unthinkable happened? What if in less than a few weeks' time the entire surface of the planet Earth was attacked, decimated, and then destroyed ... causing the extinction of every living biologic. What if this attack turned into a catastrophic cascade that also condemned life below and above the surface into the endless void of oblivion? The LI'MA Saga, Cascade, Book II, continues with the unthinkable. While the engineered catalyst-event was festering, two of the four LIving MAchines, Lima and LimaPrime, were light years away from our solar system; exploring the means and ways of traveling through space. Back on Earth, LimaHong was sequestered, a word it chose to use, high in the Cascade mountain range. A home it had constructed to its needs and temperament. Meaning it was an insanely hard place to get to making it practically impossible for pesky humans to show up at Its front door. It was a place it chose where it could do its collection and studies in ... well in all aspects of science, engineering, astrology, geology, topography, mathematics and organizational methodology. LimaHong did have one human contact. The Hong family who had been the bridge between LimaHong and humanity were dead, but their grandson had picked up the umbilical cord between the sentient and the human race. The last of the four LI'MAs, LimaLime, was the smallest. At the present moment it was in its own corner of Prime Hollingsworth-Suazo's special garage; where a state of the art R&D lab had mixed with the brilliant mind of Prime. Prime had been dead for over a month. LimaLime had not left its corner. It sat there, day after day, just looking at the many photos of the LI'MAs in silly poses, doing silly things with their humans. It might have stayed like that indefinitely if Prime hadn't made plans for the most human-centric LI'MA of the group. Prime's recent death had set in motion the next chapter in Limalime's life. A future with another close human friend. The friend Prime had chosen for the SI was Dr. Jessica Brown. The granddaughter of the woman who made sentience possible for the four new life forms. Jessie showed up one day at the door looking into the tech wonderland of wonderlands. It took LimaLime 15 minutes 13.896721 seconds, after talking to this young woman to decide that Jessie could stay and be family. LimaHong was neither delighted nor angry about this new addition in their lives, since Jessie proved to not be a pesky human and was surprisingly smarter than either Prime Hollingsworth-Suazo or Jessie's grandmother (Lima's human) Dr. Janice Brown. The fact that Lima still referred to Dr. Janice Brown as Its mother never made any sense to LimaHong, but it seemed perfectly natural to LimaLime; who tried in vain, many times, to explain this conundrum to LimaHong. LimaLime and Jessie were settled into their work, which involved Jessie's invention and the final deployment of the solar umbrellas she invented to counteract some of the lethal heat effects from the change in climate and the degradation of the Earth's natural shields ... when the phone rang. It was the Director of the C.I.A., from Washington D.C., on the line with a question and a request for Jessie and the LI'MA's. What Jessie, LimaLime and LimaHong found, as they raced around the world, sent Lima and LimaPrime racing back to Earth in order to try and keep humanity from going extinct.
