Cuscuta reflexa,a deciduous perennial that grows to 1.0 meters (3.3 ft.) high by 0.5 meters (1.65 ft.) has been studied to compare and give detailed reports on pharmacognostical, preliminary phytochemical and pharmacological studies made on it.The Pharmacological studies showed that methanolic stem extract (5mg/kg) exhibits significant hepatoprotective and antioxidant activity as compared to standard. Additionally it has been found that the dose of 10 mg/kg showed better activity as compared to 5mg/kg extract. Further, a detailed phytochemical and pharmacological investigation should be carried out in order to find out active constituents present in the plant, which are responsible for the above said activity and its exact mechanism of action.
