Ignacio Ramonet wurde 1943 in Spanien geboren. Von 1991 bis 2008 war er Chefredakteur der französischen Monatszeitung "Le Monde diplomatique". Er ist Professor für Theorie der audiovisuellen Kommunikation an der Universität Denis Diderot in Paris und Autor zahlreicher Publikationen. Zudem ist er Mitbegründer und Ehrenpräsident von Attac und einer der Organisatoren des Weltsozialforums.
