The author, Kathleen Randolph, was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and as a child was moved often from state to state including Maryland, Connecticut and Kentucky. She holds a B.S. Degree in Education from Central Connecticut State University and a Masters Degree in Education with a specialization in Reading from the University of Louisville. She spent a successful career in Information Technology, Staffing and Recruiting. Currently, she resides near New York City, enjoying teaching and writing. "Cat Can't Read" is based on the author's own experiences as a young child growing up in a large family with 7 children that were frequently moved by their working mother and father. The family included a great grand Uncle Jim, who taught her the meaning of "unconditional love". Kathleen struggled with Reading and left grade school on a third-grade level! The constant struggle to learn also created social, emotional and behavioral issues. Going to the principal's office was often a daily routine. She wasn't alone for her other siblings from their large motley crew had similar issues. Their issues and pain, inspired her to want to write children's books about struggles, never giving up, and what she calls "Making Stars from Scars". Along with helping young children, the author hopes that it might inspire adults and parents. Hopefully, in seeing the book they too will be inspired to recognize and help struggling children. Kathleen Randolph's previous writing experience includes a short story, Uncomfortable Silence, that was made in to a short film that toured the International Film Festivals for two years. It is a comedy about our over use of technology and the speculation that if we put down our electronic devises they might be uncomfortable silence for our lack of the art of communications. Her second full-length story, American Fango, is a romance comedy based on a true story about a 25 year-old Italian man who comes to USA to experience the American Dream. From Hollywood to New York City, he is hit with a lot of mud, in Italian, Fango. It is a theme of deciding when bad things happen, if you will lay down and roll in it as a victim, or get up and make "Fango". This was made into an International Film and was released to the market, December 5, 2017!
