The reopening of Hildesheim Cathedral Museum in April 2015 marks the conclusion of a renovation project lasting several years. The complex of buildings is a UNESCO World Heritage site and home to one of the most outstanding collections of ecclesiastical art, which will now be on display in a completely refurbished environment. In contrast to many other museum collections, the history of the Cathedral Museum and its treasuresspans a remarkable 1200 years. The collection already belonged to the cathedral in medieval times; it is therefore an integral part of the Hildesheim UNESCO World Heritage site, which includes St Mary's Cathedral as well as St Michael's Church.
