Research Paper (postgraduate) from the year 2015 in the subject Law - Criminal process, Criminology, Law Enforcement, grade: A, Northcentral University, course: Scholarly Literature Review, language: English, abstract: The causes of juvenile delinquency have being a field that many scholars have built their research on. In addition, causes leading to violent behavior especially among the youth has being widely studied aiming at intervention at an early stage (Schreck, Fisher, & Miller, 2012). In the vast field of psychology, human violence is a key element consequently; psychologists evaluate how the environment interacts with the individual to result in a violent act (Jessica, Osmond, & Ballick, 2014). Juvenile violence is a key issue in the corridors of justice on a global scale. However, juvenile violence focuses on the punishment rather than development of mechanisms that may be instrumental in prevention and intervention at early stage in life (Winterdyk, 2014). There are two outstanding themes in this literature review. First theme is that various life events and immediate environment including home, school, and neighborhood is essential in shaping ones trajectory as ones transit from childhood through adolescence to adulthood. The second theme is that identifying such life events is the determining factor of delinquent behavior. In summary, the pathway to crime for a child is greatly dependent on the social bonds that exist in the society.
My name is Louis Howell Jr., Ph.D. I¿m a native of Newark, New Jersey currently residing in Orangeburg, South Carolina. I am a graduate of Claflin University where I majored in Sociology/Criminal Justice (Undergrad). I received my master¿s degree, in Criminal Justice from Boston University, also earning my Ph.D. in Business Administration with a Specialization in Criminal Justice, at Northcentral University. My Dissertation Topic: Law Enforcement Officers Perceptions of the Influence of Reverse Bias on Their Behavior and Use of Force. I¿m a member of Alpha Phi Sigma, National Criminal Justice Honor Society, as well a member of Pi Gamma Mu International Honor Society for Social Sciences, and The National Society of Leadership and Success, Honor Society in Leadership. I¿m also the Charter advisor for Alpha Phi Sigma Honor Society and Pi Gamma Mu Honor Society at Voorhees College. Fifteen years of experience managing individuals coupled with eight years of law enforcement, has afforded me the opportunity to work with a plethora of personalities. Given the responsibility to supervise persons with diverse backgrounds and vast culture differences required devotion, time and determination to foster a healthy environment of solidarity. Also, I¿m a Life member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated also the advisor of the fraternity at Voorhees College. I¿m a Assistant Professor and Interim Academic Program Coordinator of Criminal Justice. I also sit on the Judicial Committee at Voorhees College. Currently I am attending Concord Law School at Purdue University Global.
