John Callow has written widely on the culture, warfare and politics of the Seventeenth Century, and on the history of the Isle of Man. His books include: Witchcraft & Magic in Sixteenth and Seventeenth Century Europe (co-authored with Geoffrey Scarre); James II - King in Exile; and Embracing the Darkness - a Cultural History of Witchcraft. His account of the Isle of Man in the Civil War appeared in England's Fortress: New Perspectives on Thomas, 3rd Lord Fairfax. He is currently a Visiting Tutor at the University of Suffolk.
