Cone beam computed tomography(CBCT) is an evolving 3d imaging technique that uses computed xray beam to create a 3d image of the object under scan. Introduced first to dentistry in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery has now gained popularity in other specialities of dentistry too. This compiled literature presents a comprehensive overview of classification, advantages, limitations and clinical applications of cone beam computed tomography as a diagnostic tool in the field of conservative dentistry, particularly in endodontics.
