The subject of this research is the CEJA and the commitment of professionals to ensure that students remain in the institution. It was carried out through bibliographical studies on the subject of the EJA, documents and legislation such as: the Federal Constitution of 1988 which establishes the right to education for young people and adults where in its article 208 it states that it is the duty of the state to guarantee education at the compulsory and free fundamental levels including for those who did not have access to it at the proper age i.e. comtemplating the subjects of the EJA who once did not have this possibility, and which also gained a special article in the Law of Guidelines and bases of National Education (Law nº 9394/1996) where it says in art. 47 that youth and adult education is aimed at those who have not had access to or continued their studies in primary and secondary education at the appropriate age. The research is characterised as descriptive and qualitative, using questionnaires that were distributed to EJA teachers in order to find out about the practices developed and the efforts made to ensure that these students remain in the school environment.
