She is only seventeen, while her former classmates are all nearly fifty years old. Back in her hometown, Celestine faces the same trials that every teen girl faces, but there are many new challenges. In addition to making friends, finding romance, and dealing with mean girls, she has to learn how to navigate social media and the internet, and to avoid suspicious members of the public who fear she is contagious. She also has to deal with survivor's guilt, living with her foster mother (who also happens to be her childhood friend), therapy, fear of a government conspiracy, and fear of falling ill...

Kevin St. Jarre is the author of Celestine, as well as Aliens, Drywall, and a Unicycle, his first novel with Encircle Publications. He previously penned three original thriller novels for Berkley Books, the Night Stalkers series, under a pseudonym. He's a published poet, his pedagogical essays have run in English Journal and thrice in Phi Delta Kappan, and his short fiction has appeared in journals such as Story. He has worked as a teacher and professor, a newspaper reporter, an international corporate consultant, and he led a combat intelligence team in the first Gulf War. Kevin is a polyglot, and he earned an MFA in Creative Writing with a concentration in Popular Fiction from University of Southern Maine's Stonecoast program. Twice awarded scholarships, he studied at the Norman Mailer Writers Center on Cape Cod, MA, with Sigrid Nunez and David Black, and wrote in southern France at La Muse Artists & Writers Retreat. He is a member of MWPA and the International Thriller Writers. Born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, Kevin grew up in Maine's northernmost town, Madawaska.
